The 147th Open starts this week at Carnoustie!  This is the 6th time Carnoustie Golf Links will host The Open!

Did you know that only 92 of the golf courses in Scotland (that’s only17%) are true links courses?  A links course refers to the type of soil and terrain on which the course is built.

Did you know that Gary Player has appeared at the British Open 46 times?

So is it “The British Open” or “The Open”???  To win the broadcast rights beginning in 2016, NBC Sports had to agree as part of the contract that it would refer to the tournament strictly as the Open or the Open Championship. NBC, in turn, has instructed announcers not to use the phrase “British Open” on the air.
