Girls Trip 2020: Wimbledon

Planning your next Girl’s Trip? Check out Wimbledon! While many choose Las Vegas as the ultimate girl’s trip destination, Wimbledon is an underrated choice. Classy, not trashy, Wimbledon can bring out your inner Royals while still being able to bring excitement into your trip.

Here are some tips that can make this vacation the best one ever!

1. Dress Smart

Weather in London can be volatile and can quickly turn a beautiful day into a disaster.  That being said, Wimbledon is the perfect place to let your inner fashion star loose. As a general rule, wear casual with a heightened twist. Bring out that yellow sundress you’ve been dying to wear or that cute little skirt that’s dying to see the light, and add a cardigan or light sweater just in case the weather turns chilly. Comfortable shoes are the way to go when walking between the different courts.  Sunglasses and a hat are recommended to shade your face from the sun. But most importantly, have fun finding your Wimbledon-perfect outfit!

2. Explore The Grounds

Are you a night owl?  If so you probably detest going on vacations only to be woken up at the crack of dawn to “do something before you regret spending your vacation sleeping.”  Wimbledon gives you the perfect excuse to sleep in, while still being able to attend the games. A late arrival around 10 am is perfect. You can explore the courts and walk around before it becomes crowded.  This is the moment to take that perfect instagrammable shot with no random spectators in the background #NoPhotoBombs!

3. Eat Lots of Good Food!

One thing you cannot do is leave Wimbledon without trying the strawberries and cream. This is a staple at Wimbledon. You will not be disappointed. And if you’re looking for something a bit more sturdy you can head to the food court or hit up some of the restaurants around the courts. Tea and sandwiches are a must-try while in Wimbledon. Champagne and Pimms are available through the day, plus other different, fun cocktails you’ll have fun trying.

4. Tour Outside Wimbledon

While tennis is the main star of the day, don’t waste a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and check out what’s beyond the matches. Visit the mall and shop around the town. See the history behind the Wimbledon matches at Wimbledon Museum of Local History. Tour the different theatres around Wimbledon and wander into the Wimbledon stables nearby. The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is a lovely experience to learn about the history behind the sport. It contains championship trophies, memorabilia, videos of past tournaments, and even a history of racket making. While the main attraction is the Virtual Reality experience, where visitors can envision themselves on center court, another great attraction is the Wat Buddhapadipa Temple. This is thai-centered authentic Buddhist monastery is in the heart of Wimbledon. With beautiful scenery that holds a flower garden, ornamental lake, and an orchard, this is a captivating place to visit.

5. Visit other European Gems

While Wimbledon is the main event, don’t let that stop you from taking the time to visit the other cities nearby. Any girl’s dream destination, The City of Lights, is a short trip away! Explore what Paris has to offer. Eat a croissant while taking in the view of the Arc de Triomphe or plan a picnic for the park below the Eiffel Tower. The possibilities are endless. A hidden gem of Europe, Amsterdam holds many exciting opportunities for you. Join a canal tour or visit the Van Gogh Museum, which holds the largest collection of Vincent van Gogh artwork. If you’re more into history, check out the gorgeous Rijksmuseum, which contains history and art dating back to the middle ages!
